Garbage Placard



The discharge of plastic or garbage mixed with plastic into any waters is prohibited. The
discharge of all garbabe is prohibited in the navigable waters of the United States
and all other waters within three nautical miles of the nearest land.


The discharge of donnage, lining and packing
materials that float is prohibited within
25 nautical miles from the nearest land.


Other unground garbage may be discharged
beyond 12 nautical miles from the nearest land.

Other garbage ground to less than
one inch may be discharged beyond
three nautical miles from the nearest land.

A person who violates the abover regulations is liable for a civil penalty of up to
$25,000, a fine of up to $50,000, and imprisonment for up to five
years for each violation.  Regional state and local restrictions on garbage also may apply.
